About Parkergate...

Until relatively recently, Parkergate was a typical Cumbrian working farm. It is still surrounded by fields of sheep and cattle. The farmhouse has a long history dating back to the 18th century and has retained much of its original character.

Across the farmyard stands a traditional stone bank barn, which we have carefully converted into self-catering holiday cottages, each with its own distinct character and truly magnificant outlook. Attached to this we have The Stable, ideal for guests who want ground floor accommodation which is disabled friendly.

We have been at pains to preserve the essential character of the exterior while transforming the interior into the simple cosy luxury you, as the discerning visitor to Lakeland, will fully appreciate.

Lying at the foot of Ullock Pike, "the peak where wolves play", Parkergate nestles under the rugged grandeur of Skiddaw and overlooks lush meadows and woodland to Bassenthwaite Lake and the Western Fells beyond.

There is excellent walking to be had from Parkergate itself and other memorable walks are easily accessible. We're at the foot of Ullock Pike which leads up onto Skiddaw for stunning views of the area.

As well as this, there are many other pursuits available locally including sailing, windsurfing & canoeing on Derwentwater (Bassenthwaite is Sailing Club only), climbing in Borrowdale, fishing, horse riding, paragliding, and bird watching. Or you can just be lazy and enjoy looking out at the countryside and the sunsets!

Ian and Jane live in the main farmhouse. There is ample off road parking available and we also have a drying room for any items getting wet during your excursion of the day.

We will provide you with as much - or as little - help as you want to ensure your ideal Lake District holiday. We can advise on many local walks and activities available in the vicinity if you wish.

We can also help out in a number of foreign languages too.
